Serving as the German answer to Japanese kei cars, smart cars are a brand of superminis owned by DaimlerChrysler. The idea of these microcars was conceived by the Swatch watch company. To give you a perspective of the size of these cars, just imagine being able to park it horizontally in an area which could only occupy an ordinary car’s width. Five smart car models were developed: Fortwo, Forfour, Roadster, Formore, and smart EV. However, out of all five, only Fortwo survived the US market with smart EV still under trial release and the others being scrapped completely. So if you always find yourself divested of parking area in the middle of the city, try a smart car and see the difference.
